Subaru Rally Team Canada will no longer compete in the Canadian Rally Championship, according to a CRC press release posted on Facebook Tuesday.
I don’t normally spam link my work at That Other Web Site, but I’ll make an exception for the story of Team Fluffy Bunny Bus of Doom at last weekend’s Oppo Rally.
So, this happened.
My wife asked me to post her new hairdo and ask if it gets us any bonus points for the rally. :)
Not my Ute in the pic. But mine will look just like this (maybe less dirty) before final paint. I just ordered the Smyth Ute kit.
I click something. I get this. I refresh. It works. Kinja’d.
This week the Genesee Valley Chapter (GVC) BMW CCA first banned late model cars with automatic driver aids that they claimed could become a hindrance on the track, then renounced the ban after disagreement from both BMW CCA national and BMW of North America. This opens an embarrassing can of worms for BMW CCA. The…
I just stumbled across this picture in my Facebook memories. That’s a 91 Miata (duh), an 88 CRX Si, an 82 Honda Silverwing, and my girlfriend at the time’s 06 Highlander. Not visible is my 91 Sentra SE-R. The only non-Jalop vehicle is the Highlander, and even it had its place as her reliable mommymobile and occasional…
After a great deal of wrenching and some ancient pagan rituals to make our VW Jetta Ute project pass its emissions test, it still failed Massachusetts inspection. It wasn’t anything I’d done wrong, but a small detail I hadn’t considered. The stock muffler is supposed to have two tailpipes. The right one had broken…
The good news is that Massachusetts has a fifteen year rolling exemption on emissions testing. The bad news is our 2003 VW Jetta Ute donor is fourteen years old, just shy of that exemption. This is the worst case scenario – too new to be exempt, but so old that a check engine light is virtually inevitable –…
Has Mighty Car Mods inspired you? Smyth Performance is pondering designing a Subarute kit once they finish their current Audi A4/S4 project. They were going to do the BMW E39 (another awesome choice), but they’ll bump up the Subaru if the interest is there. A refundable $100 deposit will let them know.

It all happened rather quick. One moment I’m reading my mail. The next I’m across town signing paperwork for a 2015 Subaru WRX. This is a trend in the RFD family.
I just saw these pics of the nearly finished prototype. Looking good!
From a friend of mine: “My brother rescued a live rabbit from an engine compartment yesterday, customer drove 2 hours to get the check engine light looked at, chewed wires and one live rabbit. That rabbit’s new name is lucky and not just a foot. Had it not been, the name would have been Hasenpfeffer.”
My local dealer has a special event going on tomorrow to try and score some sales. I know because they mailed me a letter offering me about $3000 above book value on my BRZ, which is also roughly what I still owe on it. I’m planning to go see if they can magically turn my BRZ into a more practical and family friendly…
Is that a car under there somewhere?
It’s no secret that I’m in love with the Smyth Ute. After getting the opportunity to drive one at a rallycross, I was convinced that someday I need one of these in my life. “Someday” will now be sooner rather than later. A few weeks ago I found a rough but solid 2003 VW Jetta 1.8T Wolfsburg Edition for sale on…
I’m going to leave my bike locked in the garage, out of sight of any groundhogs in the area! Hopefully that means I’ll get to ride it six weeks earlier.
A friend of mine just sent me this pic from Honduras. Too late for Taco Tuesday, but as SnapUndersteer, Italian Spiderman said, it should be Taco Everyday, and I agree.
