I keep going like this, it’ll be ready for paint by this weekend:
With the car mostly sorted, I decided it’s time to get her looking good again. So I set off to sanding and spot priming:
I just finished up with painting the main body of the firebird and holy shit did it turn out way better than expected!
Set out to get the truck sprayed this weekend. Went to a friend’s place Friday night and went to work:
After many days weeks months of hard work primer is finally on the Firebird body.
Picking up paint tonight. Got everything sanded last night:
Been busy painting things at the new house. I am beyond excited to have a good-sized two car garage.
Back story: My bedsides had rusted as all these trucks do, so I welded in new bed sides and got a new tailgate last fall hoping to get it painted before winter. Winter had other plans:
Picked up the trans donor:
My little Easter Egg arrived last night:
I haven’t even used half the can for the hood and passenger footwell. This stuff is awesome! Goes on thick, and dries nice and tough!
Decided it was too cold to do any real work this weekend, so I got my taillights sorted:
So after some pondering and planning, we’ve decided to do a “galaxy” theme on the hood/fender of the car.
Got some more shots of the hood in the sun:
Got the underside of the hood done:
Had some paint laying around so I started playing last night. Figure I’ll wing it for the engine bay. This is what I have so far:
It may be a very common color on my generation of Accent...both sedan and hatchback, but in the sun, I always liked the metallic look of the gray-blue color Humdrum is painted in - Midnight Gray Metallic! Not bad for a base-model color option!
Here’s the build on our other Voyager, which is sadly no longer in my possession.
As I inch closer to being able to repaint my 68 Camaro, I’ll need to find someone to do it. I know of a guy on Michigan’s West Side and another in Kentucky who’s work I saw in person & really liked, but I’d rather find someone local.
I’ve decided on two colors: Slate Grey, and Cocaine White. One is the best Grey Porsche ever offered and is also better than Nardo Grey. The other gives me the chance to drive a car colored by the decade it was born into.
