A 323 update
Welcome to Ridiculous Rebadges, a series of articles in which I go through and examine the details and circumstances surrounding some of the more infamous and some of the more esoteric vehicular rebadges throughout automotive history.
And to think my other option would be cheaper units that would self destruct after 10K... I decided to splurge. rockauto is the bomb, for letting me purchase for far less than the local price.
Brought the car over to the annual Nokia car show (Formerly Alcatel-Lucent). got some good responses, given that this probably is one of the only ones left in the province in decent shape. Not bad for a 23 year old economy car.
That is now the name of the 1993 Mazda 323 I unceremoniously picked up the other week for $550.
It’s Legit now! Had a small hiccup Thursday registering my 1990 Euro spec 323 diesel Thursday. They didn’t have a weight in the system to match my VIN. So I had to either weigh it at a certified scale, or bring in a picture of the mass plate on the firewall. Put it on the road and it’s been a joy to drive since.
If any of you know me in real life, you will know that I’m a bit of a Mazda fanboy. I’ve owned 2 4WD Proteges, an MX-3, and Many various Fazdas (Fords with Mazda drive trains and platforms, notably the Aspire, Festiva, and Escort/Tracer 91-96). I was surfing facebook and noticed someone posted a picture of a screen…
The digital tach in my Mazda 323 GTX is just weird. The scale is not consistent whatsoever! In the same increments, the scale goes like this:
Lots of cars & lots of vinyl.
Saturday morning I was feeling some cabin fever and needed to get out of the house. It was an unusually warm late November day in Denver, about 63° (today it's 25°), so I drove over to Georgetown, Colorado in my 1988 Mazda 323 GTX. The intent was to check out Georgetown itself and Georgetown Lake, which has been used…
Some of you know this by now, but after spending the first 24 years of my life in the south, I moved to Denver, Colorado in July. I bought a 1988 Mazda 323 GTX to use in the winter instead of my 2002 Miata on summer tires.
I've been driving the GTX for a week in winter weather here in Colorado. The Miata on its summer tires has retired for the season. And with that, I've dropped the Miata's insurance down to appropriate non-driving levels. With the changes, I'm saving $25/month on car insurance (don't need a low deductible on collision…
There’s a new North American rally-map up and there’s even a new event right here in Northern Michigan!
Oh hi. I'm Marquette. Been lurking Jalopnik and Oppo for a few years now, thought I'd actually contribute around here from time to time. Here's a bulleted list of things about me.
Rockford ditching the trusty old Firebird for a rotary-powered import? It happened, guys. He was featured in several FC RX-7 commercials as well as ones for many other, more ordinary cars. There were no "Rockford turns" done in the cars, unfortunately. It's also too bad he left a year prior to the year of Miata…
Hey Guys, Saw all this talk about rally and maybe even a little talk about a GTX, Raphael?, and thought I’d throw this out really quick.
