A perfectly timed dodge is already a thing of beauty. Adding kick-ass slow motion afterwards makes it even better. I’m convinced there’s no better feeling in all of video games than a dodge into a slow motion action move. In games, I’ll spend all my points upgrading my dodge in hope of chasing this highly specific,…

We’re returning to our playthrough of Nier: Automata right now on Kotaku’s Twitch channel. It’s a game about happy androids, where nothing goes wrong.
Square Enix announced that Nier: Automata is coming to the Xbox One on June 26th, 2018, then they removed the announcement page. According to the now-removed page, it will be released in a “Become As Gods” edition that includes the “3C3C1D119440927" DLC and some cosmetic items.
Yoko Taro wants folks to knock it off with the fan art and cosplay complaints, saying one of the reasons he doesn’t actively retweet fan art or cosplay is because he doesn’t want to broadcast them to “strange people.”
Nier: Automata’s existential story about an endless war between androids and machines has a ton of great moments. My favorite moment of all doesn’t come from an epic sword duel on top of a tower or a difficult, fourth wall-breaking decision, but instead from a perfect musical cue.

SAN FRANCISCO—Without his mask, Yoko Taro looks like anyone else at the Game Developers Conference. He has a thin grey beard and wears a black hoodie with short, flowing sleeves that wouldn’t seem out of place at Hogwarts. His head is shaved, and his face is round, but otherwise he doesn’t resemble the giant Nier mask…

I’ve played approximately two billion video games this year. Narrowing that list down to 10 was a painful and bloody process, but I finally managed to choose my favorite games from one of the most exciting years in recent memory.
Have you been playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on your phone a little bit each day? Were you enjoying helping out your friendly neighbors with frivolous tasks, crafting your favorite style of coffee table and generally just vibing along to it all? Well the director of NieR: Automata is here to tell you just how…
A picture is worth 1,000 words and a good Simpsons picture is worth one kwyjibo. An intrepid Twitter user is turning still from The Simpsons into wonderful summaries of 2017's top video games.
Have you noticed? Some of the biggest recent Japanese role-playing games feature older sister type characters instead of predominately kid sister ones popular in years past.
It’s taken a little longer than I was expecting, but Nier: Automata’s first proper action figures are finally on the way, and they look great.
