Science goes bad. History and science topics usually get found by accident b/c they are hard to pick at random. I saw Thomas Dolby and thought science experiments gone wrong would be good. I started reading stories and they were horrifying and depressing. Slotin at Los Alamos was a negligent ass. He is still generally treated as a hero. Well, no. One second longer would have killed everyone in the room. Enrico Fermi had told them if they continued doing what they were doing they would be dead within a year. He was right.
Better news - accidental discoveries.
